Agreed - you should message those participants and let them know. Even if it's not the same as a prize, they'll carry your appreciation with them.

yep i agree with that too and u totally deserved 2nd place in that contest as well

Totally in agreement, I don't like contests where you have to vote for the winner... I mean it's great that everyone can have their say but lots of people just get their friends to vote to make them higher even if they really should be in last! That really annoys me!

It's even more annoying when "you" (me) have better work and don't even get in the top ten (even when there's a prize just for the 1st)

I gave up on contests a long time ago, I never expected to win, but they were good for stretching..... but sadly it seemed the same people were winning top places over and over again. It seems to depend how many friends you have in the majority (not all) of cases

I think the winners or top tpossition creators most of the time don't get the "real" prize. That is, they win, but other people with better entries that are not perfect for the constest are the ones that get most of the attention or the ones that are asked for comissions or the like. Sometimes you win even when you don't win.
