"It'd be great to have a combat video using CCP's trinity rendering suite written, directed, and produced by someone who actually understands how 0.0 combat works."

That would be about as interesting as a sci-fi movie directed by a physicist.

great work, didn't you want to write a tutorial on those dragon manips?
:iconshutupandwhisper:
yeah i was gonna write a tutorial on one of my other dragon manips but i wasnt really happy with it so i dont wanna make a tutorial outta it. i woulda done one on this pic except i didnt take screenshots as i went :\
:iconjosif:
i dont know man, im not feeling this much, to empty for my liking, and the dragons cud use more contrast to fit the pic more.

I agree with the last sentence of your artist comment. I think this image is seriously well done and has an amazing level of detail, but the dragon's poses aren't very ineresting or convincing and this scene could be so much more moving from a slightly different angle and with a bit more action in their bodies. But I think that's the natural limitation of photo-manipping with found stock. If you had a cage of lizards in your basement that you could pop out for a quick photo session every time you wanted to do a dragon piece, well, problem solved! But I imagine it's be very difficult to find images of lizards that coordinate as well as these do from a view with extreme perspective, clawing and eating each other, etc etc.. Maybe one way you could get around that kind of a problem is using a different animal for the body's structure and using the texture from lizard refs on top of the form. Well, that's just a suggestion.. Sorry for the rant :P

I was just curious... I guess such a dragon manip is too complex for a full tutorial anyway

What I really like about this picture is how... manipulated it is (I know, it's a weird way to describe it, but that the best I could think of). Most people (myself included) can take a few pictures, cut and paste them into a scene, change the hues and call it a day, but I think this really brings the 'manipulation' back into it. It really impresses me how you actually took the time and creativity to create something out of all of bits and pieces of stock. It shows artistic effort, and a lot of creativity.

Ok, now here comes the crit:
One thing that I really couldn't get past was the background, I don't know if it's what you were going for or not, but it seems kind of plain. I think a little bit of color could have really made it seem, well, fuller, so to speak; it just seems so plain that it doesn't set a cool atmosphere for the rest of the picture.
Next thing is the dragons' expressions. They look more like they're sharing a good laugh than being afflicted. I know you had to work with the stock you had (which might have been quite hard to work with for all I know), but I'm just suggesting maybe a bit more rage in their expressions. Maybe you could have made their brows a bit more furrowed, or focus their eyes on each other.

Anyway, I really like the creativity of this, but I think maybe you could still tweak it a bit more. Good work, dude.
